Polytechnic University of Bari
Prof. Carmine Putignano
Department of Mechanics, Mathematics and Management,
Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy
Carmine Putignano has been appointed as Associate Professor in Applied Mechanics at Polytechnic University of Bari (Italy) starting from October 2021. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed publications, in the field of Applied Mechanics and, in particular, in Tribology, and has been principal investigator in a number of industrial and research projects, including collaborations with Bosch, Toyota, SKF, AC2T. His approach to research is marked by a strong attitude to international collaboration: Prof. Putignano has been recipient of a Marie Curie Intra European fellowship at Imperial College London (UK), a Fulbright scholarship at University of Delaware (USA), and Humbolt fellowship for experienced researchers at the University of Kiel (Germany). His expertise is mainly related to the development of numerical methods, adequately validated by experiments, to study soft matter tribology in dry and lubricated conditions; recently, he has started to direct his research to biomechanical problems, focusing con cartilage mechanics in human joints and solid lubrication in invertebrates.
Dr. Michele Santeramo
Department of Mechanics, Mathematics and Management,
Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy
Michele Santeramo received Bachelor’s Degree (2017) and Master’s Degree (2020) in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Bari. In 2023, he received his Ph.D. in Mechanical and Management Engineering defending his thesis “Numerical and Experimental Methods for Viscoelastic Circular Contacts in Dry and Lubricated Conditions”, which is the result of the joint project between Politecnico di Bari and the Austrian Excellence Center for Tribology (AC2T). Currently, he is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Politecnico di Bari.
His main research activities move in the field of tribology, with particular focus on both adhesive and adhesiveless interactions between soft bodies
Dr. Farideh Davoodi
Department of Mechanics, Mathematics and Management,
Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy
Farideh Davoodi is a research assistance at the Polytechnic University of Bari, and recently concluded a project investigating the tribological and mechanical properties of textured surfaces. She holds a PhD in materials science, where she focused on wear and corrosion behavior of NiP/TiN duplex coatings. Her expertise and interests cover materials characterization, surface engineering, tribology, corrosion science, and metal additive manufacturing. She has authored multiple papers in international journals.
